Encouraging Independent Pilot Study Shows Positive Results for ION Body Armour® Wristbands At Stirling University

At ION Body Armour®, our journey started close to home. Our own family experience showed us how negative ions might support everyday wellbeing — from helping our mum with fewer migraines & arthritic hands to Kevin managing anxiety. This inspired us to design our own wristband, infused with carefully selected minerals, to naturally harness the power of negative ions.

To explore this further, we partnered with the University of Stirling, supported by the Sporting Chance Initiative, on an independent 2-week pilot study with older adults.

The Results

The study compared participants wearing an ION Body Armour® wristband with a control group. While everyone’s experience was different, the ION group showed encouraging improvements:

  • Strength & Grip: Some participants achieved up to 20% gains in grip strength; average gains were higher than the control group.
  • Balance: The ION group recorded greater improvements in balance and stability after one week.
  • Blood Pressure: Both groups improved, but the Ion group showed a greater average reduction in systolic blood pressure (–6.8 mmHg vs –4.3 mmHg).
  • Cognitive Performance: The ION group improved their reaction times by –5.5%, more than double the improvement of the control group.
  • Power & Performance: In vertical jump and Wingate peak power tests, the Ion group again showed stronger improvements compared to control.

Why It Matters

These results suggest that ION Body Armour® wristbands may support strength, balance, focus, and overall performance. While this was a small-scale pilot study (around 20 participants), the findings are promising and provide a strong foundation for future research.

What Participants Said

As part of the pilot study, participants also filled out short questionnaires about their experiences. While everyone’s feedback was different, some common themes emerged:

  • Several participants wearing the ION Body Armour® wristband said they felt steadier on their feet and more balanced.
  • Some reported feeling more focused and alert in everyday activities.
  • A few noticed a firmer grip or greater ease when carrying out simple tasks.
  • Others did not notice a major change — which shows that, just like any wellbeing product, individual results can vary.

This personal feedback adds another layer to the study’s findings, showing how participants themselves experienced the product alongside the measured test results.

Our Commitment

We know that results can vary between individuals, which is why we’ve kept our wristbands cost-effective so anyone can try them. We are committed to supporting larger studies in the future to build on these early findings.
